A new data project, China Policy Data, has launched a free, machine-readable feed of Shanghai government grant and subsidy notices. The project aims to provide researchers, consultants, and AI agents with a structured way to monitor policy changes and financial incentives within the Shanghai region. By converting official government notices into a standardized JSON format, the feed allows for automated monitoring and analysis that would otherwise require manual navigation of multiple government portals.

The feed aggregates approximately 150 notices from nine different official Shanghai sources, including the science and technology commission, the commerce commission, and the municipal government portal. Each record in the feed includes a stable ID, the original Chinese title, a direct link to the authoritative official notice, and the issuing body. To assist with automated processing, the data includes a heuristic relevance score (0–10) specifically for foreign-invested small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as a status flag indicating whether the application deadline is still in the future.

Designed with AI agents in mind, the feed is hosted over HTTPS and can be accessed directly via standard HTTP tools without the need for complex web scrapers. For programs that are currently open, the project provides English overlays for titles and summaries to help agents process the information without initial translation. The feed is updated daily at approximately 08:10 China time. While the project provides a structured summary, the author notes that the data is not a substitute for legal or investment advice, and users are encouraged to verify all details against the official Chinese notices provided in the feed.
