VS Code Remote SSH: Powerful Access, or Too Much Bootstrap?
A Fly.io post argues that Visual Studio Code’s remote-editing agent behaves less like a lightweight SSH helper and more like software installed and controlled from the remote endpoint. The same capabilities that make the feature useful also define its security boundary: it can modify files and launch processes on whichever machine hosts the agent.
